This is a section of pieces from Multiple Field Sketches, an ongoing series of works for orchestra begun in 2010 and now spans over three books. Each is a snapshot of English rural life and is therefore pastoral in nature, but each is also a snapshot in time and intended to capture rural life in all its modernity. So, in its pages we find references to tractors and other farm machinery and village life, but all rooted in the timeless countryside.

Garry Judd is a composer who works in film, TV, radio and other media as well as concert music which has been premiered at the Wigmore Hall and featured on BBC Radio 3 and ClassicFM. His music has been played by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Courtney Pine, Leslie Howard, Finn Peters, Guy Pratt, John Etheridge and The London Community Gospel Choir to name but a few. He has written for over 150 film, television, radio and other media productions and is broadcast regularly throughout the world and is also available on iTunes.

Études in Black and White op. 47, is a collection of twenty-five solo piano works composed and played by Leslie Howard.

A citizen of both Britain and Australia, Dr. Howard has accomplished a feat unequalled by any solo artist in recording history – his 99-CD survey for Hyperion of the complete piano music of Franz Liszt, including all 17 works for piano and orchestra. Accomplished within 14 years, it encompasses more than 300 world premières, with many works prepared from Liszt’s unpublished manuscripts and works unheard since Liszt’s lifetime. This critically acclaimed project merited Leslie Howard’s entry in the Guinness Book of World Records, six Grands Prix du Disque, the Medal of St Stephen, the Pro Cultura Hungarica award and a mounted bronze cast of Liszt’s hand presented by the Hungarian President. During the Liszt bicentenary year – 2011, Leslie Howard travelled the world with seven different all-Liszt recital programmes, maintaining at the same time a broad repertoire of concertos and chamber-music, and a quantity of solo music by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, Rakhmaninov and Rubinstein.

The Green Man is an orchestral suite inspired by a visit to Highworth in Wiltshire to see the Jack-in-the-Green Mayday celebrations. This is an ancient tradition where Jack (wearing a frame woven with branches and looking rather like an animated Christmas tree) parades around the town square with his cohorts (Sap-Engro, Copperface and others). The Green Man suite is joined on this album by a solo piano arrangement of one of the orchestral series, Multiple Field Sketches, Elegies (and Energies). A large orchestral version of this will be released in the Summer of 2016.
